Rod Christian

Rod Christian is a writer member of APRA/AMCOS and a well-known composer, musician and music specialist in Perth Western Australia. Rod’s qualifications include a Diploma of Music Teaching and a Bachelor of Music Education.

His career in music spans almost 40 years where he has been Head of Music at three major metropolitan secondary schools.Rod has written and recorded numerous songs, jingles and music for television documentaries. He has also musically directed many school and professional productions throughout Australia. Among these, was his own original musical - Cruisin’ - which has now achieved international success.

Rod is a member of a number of musical groups, namely Pure Magic, lead guitar/vocals, Du Monde, a jazz guitar duo, Taxi, as bass guitarist and, more recently, keyboards with Gerry and the The Atrix. Rod is currently acting Head Of The Arts Learning Area at Sacred Heart College in Sorrento Western Australia.

Perry Joyce

Perry Joyce

Perry Joyce is in his fifth year at the University of Western Australia currently undertaking a Bachelor of Music majoring in composition. Having studied the piano and singing from an early age, Perry has won many local and national competitions for excellence in singing, piano playing and composition alike.

Perry has been conducting community choirs for 3 years running and currently holds a position as conductor-in-residence with the Australian Youth Choir. As well as this, Perry teaches voice and piano privately and for schools and colleges.

In 2007 Perry was selected by Richard Gill as the winner of the Sydney Symphony's Young Composers Project. In the same year Perry also won best composition by a young composer for the Australian Society for Music Education 40th national conference. In 2008 Perry won the Gondwana Voices Young Composers Award and was commissioned to write a new work to be premiered during their piloted National Choral School Week. Perry was chosen this year to write a piece for WASO's education chamber orchestra - EChO - to be premiered in August 2010. Perry has also written works for the National Youth Choir of Australia, The Western Australia Youth Chorale, the Winthrop Singers and the Collegium Musicum Choir conducted by Dr Margaret Pride.
