About Us
Rod Christian and Perry Joyce have joined forces to create The Rejoyce Choir. Between them, Rod and Perry bring to the Choir their vast experience in choral singing, performance and musical knowledge, together with a passion and enthusiasm for entertaining.
The Rejoyce Choir is a SATB choir whose repertoire spans from the Renaissance to the present day.
Although a community based choir at heart, the Rejoyce Choir is dedicated to utmost excellence in all styles and genres of group singing with a strong focus on technique, breathing and vocal health.
The choir rehearses Tuesday nights (of the school term) from 7:00-9:15pm in the Callaway Auditorium at The University of Western Australia.
The Rejoyce Choir's mission is:
- To foster in each chorister a desire to sing proficiently, confidently, and professionally in a warm, happy and friendly environment.
- To enable each chorister to experience the art of singing, including the reading of music, and understanding of musical terms and signs, correct breathing techniques, pronunciation and execution of vowels and consonants in the a choral setting.
- To provide a variety of challenging musical pieces including our own arrangements and the works of the great composers to achieve a balanced, integrated repertoire programme for performance.
- To work towards meaningful performances throughout the year including variety concerts, choral festivals and charity events.
- To adopt a charity and donate part proceeds to this worthwhile cause/charity on an ongoing basis.
- To promote collegiality among all members and foster the enjoyment and experience of learning music.
Our expectations of Choristers:
We would expect that each and every choir member be committed to the choir and to attend every scheduled rehearsal.
We would expect that everybody is promply seated at 7.00pm ready for the warm-ups which will be an integral part of choir rehearsals. (There will be a break at 8.00 pm with rehearsal resuming at 8.15pm.)
Music will be provided on a loan basis as part of the fees and will be legally stamped with an AMCOS logo, owned by the Rejoyce choir and must be returned when a choir member leaves the choir. Under copyright law, choral music may not be copied and distributed by any means including downloading and all music will be purchased by the Administration, stamped and filed in accordance with AMCOS copyright law.
There will be no refunds if a choir member elects to withdraw during the course of any term unless unforeseen circumstances arise.
